And hit the ground running we did. Unshowered, and exhaunsted. Very weird day. Phenominal really. Getting used to the idea of where we were was a challenge.
730am(130am ottawa time) we arrived...to wait a whole hour for our bags .. We got dizzy watching the conveyor belt..
930am we arrived at the hostel. And in all the excitment will ended up leaving his brand new rain jacket in our taxi.. (tracking it down is part of our adventure..)
We checked in and were off.
We got our first french espresso...no questions..the best espresso either of us has ever drank. 1€10 each (fuck starbucks)
After our caffeine jolt we wandered our way down the Seine river..getting lost...(be lost wasnt an issue)
People watched..browsed sidewalk vendors..ate ham and cheese paninis.. eventually made it to the Louvre.
With every intention of taking a tour of the muesum ..we got there to see the entrence line to be 1km long... We decided to just enjoy the outter architechure/ art work..(for free nonetheless)
We then walked down through Jardin des Tuileries.. Sat by a fountain for a good half hour absorbing what was around us.
The Jardin des Tuileries leads up to Place de la Concorde ( a destination on our itinerary) which is unbelieveably gorgeous..even though Marie Antionette..and other french revolution prisoners were beheaded right there.
We then walked up the oh so famous Champ d'Elysees..which really is the best shopping....window shopping...
Then to Arc de Triomphe.. Which is more interesting and more beautiful then either if us ever imagined..and taking my uncles trip advice ("if you can go up..go up...if you can go down..go down") and we went up...284 stairs and an asthma attack later..we were looking at the most amazing veiw..(we havent gone to Montparansse yet though) very worth the pain.
We then finally made it back to our hostel..showered..relaxed and went out for more espresso. After a lovely patio drink.. we brought our cups back into the cafe and the waiter said 'NO..youre in paris..we serve you..'
Then we strolled down through the markets around the hostel.. Paid 15€ for a fresh baget, desert, cheese, tomatos and a a bottle of local wine.. (budget meal?)
We are currently finishing off our bottle of wine and are going to get our first full nights rest and be ready to take on Paris again tmrw.
